Artist information
From the vastness of a landscape to the textures of a weathered outcrop I find inspiration in the way light affects the scenery around me and how it changes, often in a relatively short space of time.
Working with clay for many years I am also excited by the immediacy of paint on paper. My painting practice has influenced the way I now use the surface of my forms as canvases for my love of mark making and colour.
I work initially with quick water colour sketches made on location, interpreting the landscape around me. Using coloured slips on clay or paint and collage on paper I builds up layers of colour and texture to create memories of place.
