Artist information
For many years I thought of myself purely as a textile artist with a love of stitch, texture and cloth. Printing, layering, changing surfaces and experimenting with varied techniques were all part of my repertoire and these are stilll important to me, but over time painting and mixed media with the use of different weights of paper (mulberry to blotting paper) evolved. My love of landscape and the wildlife within it, their habitats, so precious but disappearing rapidly, made me feel that perhaps by painting them it would draw attention to their importance and beauty and remind us all just how precious they are. I enjoy observing nature and the dedicated looking needed to capture say a jay’s feather, a jewel like goldfinch or a spring hedgerow .
