Art Forms
Jewellery & Silversmithing
Artist information
I design & make silver jewellery, incorporating mixed metals using a variety of traditional silversmith techniques. My work is influenced by Island landscapes & seascapes encountered during trips around the Scottish Isles & the West coast of Ireland along with the beautiful countryside here in Worcestershire. Nature is a constant source of inspiration in my work. I like to apply texture & pattern, manipulating form to mimic organic shapes, producing workable, wearable pieces of art. My brooches are amongst my largest jewellery items, where I abstract the authentic form to create a sculptural design, delivering an essence of nature. With all my designs I like to explore them fully by creating a collection that completely envelops the theme. Pieces range from small stud earrings through to larger statement pendants & brooches. Recently I have enjoyed developing a signature range that incorporates a mismatch & asymmetrical element, giving my work a contemporary contrast against their natural organic origin.
