Layla Khani (aka Laylart)

Painter – printmaker

My inspiration comes from the world around me; the Malvern Hills and its beautiful landscapes, my little son and my feelings about the events in both my life and our world. During the last decade, I developed a keen interest in printmaking and it has become the main outlet for my creativity. My works usually tell a multi-layered story in one frame. They are the honest reflection of my feelings within a certain period of time and they are strongly rooted in my experience as a mother.

I am fascinated by the reduction method in linocut printing, which is the main method I use to create my artwork. I love using bold and bright colours, to create textures and give more depth to my artwork. This year, I will be showcasing my original linocut prints and some of my paintings in this venue, and I hope you can make it here.
