Suzanne Nicholl

Painter

I am so looking forward to my first Open Studio event. I am a full time artist and work out of a lovely studio which used to be an old coach house, situated beside my home. Having recently installed a painting wall and refurbished the space, visitors can expect to see a fully working studio, filled with artist paraphernalia, work in progress and a variety of finished pieces to view, many of which are for sale. Since November 2020 I have been working on a series of coastal paintings, which were recently exhibited at the Malvern School of Art. I also have a portfolio of oil landscapes, floral acrylics, collage and paper pieces, so there is plenty to see and explore.

I work in an expressive, abstracted style, focusing predominately on the energy of the landscape I enjoy incorporating gestural marks of ink, pastel, graphite, and mono prints to create contrast and interest throughout the image. I work on wooden boards largely which allows me scrape back through the paint to create varied textures and marks, revealing hidden details beneath.

I look forward to welcoming art lovers and artists alike to share our interest of art and get to know a few more like minded people.
