I love the excitement and challenge, and even the uncertainty, that is involved in the act of creating something.
I have a fascination with the human form and how it is affected by emotion and movement. This is explored through simple line drawings, vibrant and discordant collages, sculptures, cut-out work, as well as in large paintings that have a primitive feel and appearance.
I also carve totem style designs for display in the garden which have names or words as their theme. I have used some of these ideas and am adapting them into jewellery and T shirts.
I love the tactility of using clay, and am drawn to making organic forms, flowers, especially Passion Flowers, and these ideas contrast with making ceramic chain designs.
My style ranges from abstraction and expressionism, to more simplified and realistic. Some of my work needs to be cast, and recently I have done my first set of Bronze figures. As well as being part of Worcestershire Open Studios, I exhibit my work in the beautiful setting of Showborough House Sculpture Garden.
I am always open to new ideas and love the excitement and challenge of undertaking new commissions.
