I work mostly in oils and also fabrics. My inspiration comes from anything really, which could be plants, trees. rocks and pebbles ,whatever I see that I can use as a starting point in my work. I make drawings to work from and always have a sketchbook with me, usually in my pocket. I am particularly attracted by the spaces between objects and the way that they fit into and cut into the landscape. My paintings often have a pattern- like design with colour and line to create movement as do my fabric pieces where I use silks and stitches. At the moment, as subjects, I am looking at industrial installations such as pylons , how they create their own complicated shapes against the sky, providing me with many forms for interpretation.
