Snap up original artworks with a twist
Worcestershire Open Studios media release 04/06/18:
Final preparations are underway for a week-long exhibition and sale of small affordable art that opens on Monday 11 June at Malvern School of Art.
The event will feature original artwork created by many of the artists taking part in the popular Worcestershire Open Studios weekend at the end of August. Drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, collage, jewellery and even ceramics are all expected to be included.
Visitors to the exhibition will have a chance to bid for the artwork in a silent auction to help raise funds for the Malvern branch of Amnesty International.
The work is 7 x 5 inches in size and is signed on the back. The creators’ names will be only revealed when the auction closes at 4pm on Saturday 16 June and purchasers discover whose work they have bought.
Worcestershire Open Studios co-organiser, Cherrie Mansfield, says “With prices starting at just £15 this is a great opportunity to snap up a piece of unique artwork made here in our wonderful county. Some of the artists taking part are just starting out, while others are well-established and are nationally and internationally recognised. It’ll be interesting to see how astute viewers are at spotting whose work is whose!”
The show takes place in the busy cafe area at Malvern School of Art, Albert Road North, Malvern, WR14 2YH from 9am to 5pm Monday 11 to Friday 15 June and from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday 16 June. It will culminate on the Saturday afternoon with a reception for artists, sponsors, media contacts and visitors and the sale of work to the highest bidders.
