Sally White — Ceramicist
My work alters depending on commissions but generally, I prefer to make, using the slab technique or throwing on the wheel. I have been making items using clay since I left Leicester Polytechnic, where I did my Degree in industrial Design. This college was keen for students to do mold making and slipcasting when I was far more interested in hand building and throwing. Following this, a little break and then we set up a pottery in The Jinney Ring, Hanbury, along with three of my colleagues to enable us to continue doing what we loved. Making, exhibiting, teaching and selling. As there are three of us we manage to open six of seven days a week, and are hoping to restart our evening classes, and one to one sessions. This works out very well as we can share the work, encourage, and motivate each other.
