Sewing at the Button Box

Sewing at the Button Box — Textiles and sewing

Gemma runs Sewing at The Button Box where she creates textile work, designs sewing kits, makes clothing and teaches sewing workshops at her studio and also within schools.

Gemma loves to be creative and work with different textures when designing her cards such as mixing hessian with lace and then a clash of floral prints.  Her kits she sells are suitable for both children and adults and feature items such as ‘Sew your own Shorts’ and ‘Sew your own Unicorn cushion’.  Each kit comes with full instructions and are suitable for beginners so you too can learn to sew.

The workshops Gemma runs from home are split into two categories, the one is for children which run at half term and they create items such as ‘Sew a Panda’ and ‘Sew your own notebook holder’.  The workshops mainly run in half term and the occasional weekend.  The adult workshops cover ‘Introduction to sewing’, ‘Sew a girls dress’, ‘Machine embroidery’ and so on.

Gemma is inspired by many things but being a mum to two young children creating item for them and the home are a big inspiration.
