77 Steve Cooper
Artist Blacksmith and Sculptor
Artform: Blacksmithing & Metalwork, Sculpture
48 years ago as a 10 year old I sat in the garden of 13 Bridge st with my Grandfather where he told me of the Blacksmiths that were in his family and his time as a child at the Forge at Spetchley Nr Worcester.
I was inspired by this and decided that i was going to be a Blacksmith.
I started going to work after school and holidays with some brothers at Baughton Earlscroome and there my Journey started i was 15.
I went to the best college in the country at Hereford where i attained Top Apprentice in 1987 and by 1989 i had started my own Business in the yard at 13 Bridge st.
Jump Forward 10 Years and my Business had grown to a size where we employed and we did gates Railings public Art.
My main accolade is the restoration of the Golden Gates of Woodnorton Nr Evesham and in 2019 the War Horse Memorial in my Town Of Pershore.
In 2020 I decided to move the Forge back home to Bridge st in Pershore and concentrate on my passion for the more Artistic side of the Craft and with the Garden at the rear of the Forge having a Large area with mature trees and a river it opened itself to being able to exhibit my work in a relaxing atmosphere.
We have 8 Sculptures that are positioned here and we welcome you to come and see them and reflect in a quiet space and also meet myself and visit the Forge which is affectionately called Little Acorns
This came from what i said when i started in 1989 from Little Acorns grow Great Oaks and there just happens to be an Oak tree in the Garden that My daughter Sophie planted with Her Great Granddad Alec in 2000.
My aim is to make art affordable for everyone so please take time to pay us a visit we have some very nice Coffee shops and Koffee and cake is just over the road from us in Bridge St, So Grab a Coffee and a cake and come spend some time with us in our wonderful space on the Banks of the River Avon in Pershore.
Best wishes
