Artist information
I’m a contemporary artist living and working in Bewdley, North Worcestershire and I own Fig Tin Gallery and Studio in the heart of the town. I teach painting workshops, I create art and I currate my gallery showcasing the work of invited artists and potters alongside mine. My paintings are a reflection of energy, emotion, and the beauty of just letting go. I work intuitively, layering, scraping, and revealing until something clicks. I don’t plan anything, I do not sketch or journal as this adds expectation and preconcieved ideas – my process just a conversation between me and the paint. It sounds cliche but it is absolutely about embracing the process, finding freedom in creativity, and discovering the unexpected. My work is raw, expressive, and deeply personal, yet it is open for others to connect with their own narrative.
I teach because I know firsthand the power of creativity – it’s freeing, healing, and confidence-building. My groups tend to be likeminded women, who want to escape their normal and join me in mine for a day or two. There’s something incredible about watching these women let go of self-doubt, embrace the process, and create something they thought was unachievable. But it’s not just about painting; it’s about finding something, connection, and a sense of self through art. Seeing that joy in their eyes – that’s why I do it.
