Artist information
With over twenty-five years as a ceramic artist, I create clay vessels, gift items, and sculptures influenced by figurative art. Each piece blends storytelling with organic elements, shaped by my experiences and the shifting seasons. My choice of materials, like stoneware and grogged clay, reflects my mood and guides my artistic narrative. During difficult times, for instance, I produced textured stoneware vessels that embodied my feelings—each mark representing part of the story. When life is calm, I’m inspired by the strength and elegance of porcelain and smooth stoneware. Whether hand-building or wheel-throwing, I enjoy experimenting with ceramic materials and pushing creative boundaries. Hand-building offers me grounding freedom, while wheelwork brings control and serenity. Both turbulent and peaceful moments influence my artistic process and philosophy.
For me, clay is far more than a medium—it represents connection, therapy, healing, self-expression, and freedom. This personal connection to clay naturally led me to share its
benefits with others through teaching and community work. Over the past decade, I’ve worked as a ceramic artist and art tutor with the NHS, various schools, the former Worcester
Arts Workshop, and through my Worcester-based partnership, ‘Arts & Wonder’. As of 2026, my new base in the beautiful Trimpley village enables me to host larger classes and
workshops, while my home studio provides a cosy and peaceful setting for smaller groups, individuals, and my own practice.
Through teaching both children and adults, I’ve witnessed first-hand the positive, therapeutic effects of artistic expression—from simple enjoyment to meaningful improvements in
emotional wellbeing and social skills. For example, one young student, initially very shy, gradually gained confidence and began forming friendships during our group sessions.
Seeing such transformation unfold through creative engagement has deepened my belief in the healing power of clay and community. Every class renews my enthusiasm for ceramics and teaching, inspiring me to keep sharing these experiences and insights with others.
