Artist information
- I am a hand and machine embroiderer working sustainably whenever possible. I use a variety of materials, paints and textile techniques including e.g. applique, quilting, wet and needle felting.
- I originally started my artistic journey after I retired and met the group of artists I work with in Malvern, when I attended the Malvern School of Art.
- Due to my personal circumstances I have found myself exploring all kinds of issues such as identity, self knowledge and the spiritual aspects of creative activities. This is how my interest in stitched portraiture has developed.
- I have always loved working with textiles but the Malvern School of Art opened up a huge and exciting range of techniques which has elevated my stitching.
- I have gone on to complete a City and Guilds hand embroidery diploma.
- I am currently studying with the Royal School of Needlework for the certificate and diploma in all manner of hand embroidery.
