Artist information
I’m a Worcester-born artist with a background in architecture, and much of my work focuses on buildings and the way they shape the places we live in. Through drawing and painting I aim to capture not only the physical form of architecture but also something deeper… the soul of a building. I’m fascinated by the way buildings gather history over time, quietly witnessing the lives, memories and experiences of the people who pass through them. In my work I try to reflect this sense of character and presence, so that the piece becomes more than a depiction of a structure, but a reflection of the life it has held.
My work often moves between two main visual styles. One uses detailed fine liner drawings set against textured, aged surfaces, where precise architectural linework contrasts with loose, weathered backgrounds. The other is a more vibrant and expressive approach using acrylic paint, where colour and movement bring a different energy to architectural subjects. I usually work on MDF panels, which provide a solid surface that allows me to build up layers of texture and surface character.
Having studied architecture at university, I’m particularly interested in the balance between the rigid precision of buildings and the organic way they age and gather memories through human experience. While these two approaches form the core of my current work, I also enjoy experimenting with different materials and techniques, and I see my practice as something that is constantly evolving as I explore new ways of expressing architectural form and atmosphere.
Since January 2026 l’ve been working on a series of pieces inspired by some of Worcester’s most recognisable buildings, including Worcester Guildhall, St Andrew’s Spire (often known locally as the Glovers Needle), The Hive and The Commandery. Through this ongoing work I’m exploring the character of Worcester’s architecture and the role these buildings play in the identity of the city. By spending time carefully observing and drawing them, I aim to create pieces that celebrate their beauty while reflecting the connection people feel to the places that shape their everyday lives.
