Artist information
Each of my artworks tell a story for you to interpret, I hope you enjoy finding your own meaning in each one. I use a variety of materials, in particular vintage & antiquarian ephemera, to create rich and intricate pieces. I combine these sourced images using a range of media including painting, drawing, pen & ink, gold leaf, mono printing.
I am inspired by poetry, prose, conversations overheard and personal histories. Much of the work I create is influenced by my love of medieval, Renaissance & Indian art. The use of symbolism hidden within layers of imagery is an important element of each of the collages I make and I love to hear how different viewers respond with their own meaning.
Along with symbolism, the titles are intrinsic to each piece. The title is the begining of my process, once I am fixed on the title I source my materials, plan and create. This can take days, weeks or months and I often have a number of artworks at various stages of completion. Among the works I create are framed collages, assemblage pieces and shadow boxes.
