Artist information
Hello! I’m Jaime and I’m a Worcestershire born and bred Artist specialising in Watercolour, charcoal and am more recently enjoying oil paints too. I’ve always loved drawing and painting, but started it seriously as an adult in 2021, after attending workshops with Arley based Artist Sarah Stokes. Sarah taught me a range of techniques, which have led me to create my own style and colour palette. She also helped me on my path to become a professional Artist.
I love to create a wide range of Art, but mainly focus on Wildlife, Marine life, seascapes & the natural world. I started off by just creating watercolour and Charcoal pieces, but more recently enjoy mixing it up a bit and sometimes use Mixed Media to create my Art. For example, I have done some pieces which involve watercolour, charcoal and textured Mulberry Paper to create stunning textures! I’m now taking time to paint with oil paints, and have to say I really love using them!
I’m a member of the Association of Animal Artists, where I exhibit regularly and in 2024, I was thrilled to be picked as a finalist in the David Shepherd “Wildlife Artist of the Year” exhibition for my Watercolour painting of coral which highlighted the affects of the bleaching of our oceans’ coral. Last year, my watercolour Seahorse piece “Circle of Renewal” was Highly Commended in the prestigious Sketch for Survival competition and I regularly donate original Art to wildlife charities which they sell in Auctions to raise much needed funds.
Last year, I joined forces with the “Olive and Plum Academy”, where along with Sarah Stokes and other local Artists, I provide Art Workshops from the picturesque Arley Studios. I have some exciting new workshops planned for over the rest of this year and next! My previous workshops include a mixed media puffin, watercolour whale & calf & have recently taught a full day charcoal workshop, where we drew a Peregrine Falcon from Worcester Cathedral in flight.
I really enjoyed taking part in Worcestershire Open Studios last year, and can’t wait to meet you at the Arley Studios when we open it to the public again!
