Artist information
I am a landscape artist with a particular passion for trees and seas. My paintings in both watercolours and acrylics vary from traditional to semi-abstract featuring the use of both texture and light and my atmospheric treescapes are easily recognisable by those who know my work. Although photographs sometimes provide loose compositions much of my work is imaginative being inspired by the Worcestershire countryside and the coast in Cornwall and Brittany. As a consequence there is very little preparatory drawing and paintings tend to evolve from the initial broad washes of colour. I was a member of the prestigious Birmingham Watercolour Society, a visiting tutor at the Centre of England Arts and ran an art group in my village for a number of years. Details of my awards, yearly exhibitions and demonstrations can be found on my website : www.ianridleywatercolours.co.uk
