Artist information
I am a professional artist, dividing my time between developing my own practice and teaching others to grow in confidence and skill. This dual role continually informs my work, keeping it both reflective and evolving.
My practice is primarily figurative, rooted in a contemporary approach that combines oil painting with drypoint printmaking. By layering these processes, I create intricate, tactile surfaces that feel individual, expressive, and quietly compelling. I embrace the balance between control and unpredictability, allowing each piece to develop its own presence.
Portraiture sits at the heart of my work. I draw from a mix of people I know, self-portraits, and imagined figures, giving me the freedom to move beyond simple likeness. For me, a portrait is not just about representation—it is a vehicle for conveying ideas, emotions, and deeper psychological or philosophical themes.
Faces particularly fascinate me. I see them as portals—spaces where inner and outer worlds meet. Through layered mark-making, texture, and subtle distortion, I aim to suggest something beyond the visible: moments of introspection, fragments of narrative, and the complexity of human experience.
My work explores ideas of life, love, growth, and identity, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and connect. Ultimately, I strive to create images that feel both intimate and universal—works that resonate on a personal level while leaving space for individual interpretation.
Alongside my studio practice, I am passionate about teaching and supporting others in their creative journeys, helping them to develop both technical skills and their own artistic voice.
I am available for commissions and welcome opportunities to create meaningful, personal work in collaboration with others.
