Artist information
Maria draws inspiration from a variety of subjects and would describe her style as expressionist. Her class tutors have included Jenny Halstead, the late Peter Hay of Three Rivers Press, and more recently Ivan Jones. Her preferred media are watercolour, pastel, and acrylic and she enjoys exploring the borderline between representation and abstraction. She has exhibited in Harrow, Reading, Henley on Thames, and more recently in Worcestershire at Croome Court and No.8 Art Gallery Pershore, where her painting WR8, now in private ownership, was awarded first prize in the 2024 annual show. Maria is also an exhibiting member of the Reading Guild of Artists.
