Artist information
Originally from Buckinghamshire, I am a ceramic artist whose sculptural work is a tactile and contemplative response to the natural world. Using hand-building techniques and smoke-firing processes, I craft abstract forms that echo the textures, rhythms, and raw beauty of geological landscapes.
My journey into ceramics was shaped by a lifelong fascination with the physical world—particularly the patterns of erosion, the tension between fragility and resilience, and the quiet power of time worn into stone, wood, and coastal forms. Childhood visits to the Cornish coast deepened this connection, where collecting pebbles and observing windswept cliffs planted the seeds of my aesthetic language.
Entirely hand-built, my sculptures balance contrast and harmony: smooth surfaces meet carved lines; spiky textures are softened by organic curves; dark smoke-fired hues are warmed with flashes of copper leaf. My approach is meditative, allowing each piece to evolve through its making—where control meets accident, and surface markings emerge from the unpredictable beauty of smoke.
