My work comes from my passion for the landscape around me , the flora , the wildlife and that of the sea. To create a piece I have to have a connection to the place or the wildlife that has inspired me and within this piece I have to incorporate something from the landscape like a shell , a piece of found pottery or a feather . I use machine and hand embroidery in my textile work with hand dyed fabrics which are often layered with vintage fabrics . I like to embellish with beads , buttons and words . In my mixed media work I like to use vintage maps and papers which are layered with fabric cut – outs . Sometimes I will add paint and print along with stitching and vintage ephemera . My mixed media work can be 2D but i also like to create books too.
