An Introduction to Portrait Drawing in Charcoal
Learn to draw a realistic portrait of the human face from a photograph.
This full day workshop is designed for complete beginners but also caters for those with some drawing experience who wish to develop their skills further. You will draw from a photograph and learn how to build a likeness from broad shapes through to more refined features using charcoal and a range of mark-making techniques. This workshop is an excellent first step before you begin to draw from a live model. Donna will be on hand to support you throughout the day and the techniques that you learn during the workshop will equip you to create your own portrait drawings at home.

Who is this workshop for:
• Complete beginners to portrait drawing.
• GCSE and A Level students.
• Those who want to improve their current drawing ability.
• Those who have never used charcoal.
What’s included:
• All drawing materials and tuition needed for the day.
• Drawing boards to work on. Feel free to bring a travel easel along if you have one.
What you need to bring:
• An apron, or clothes that you don’t mind getting charcoal on.
• A packed lunch or use the onsite café.
• A camera or camera phone to take shots of your progress

She is passionate about the benefits of drawing, particularly from life, to improve all aspects of one’s art practice. Her workshops are accessible to all, relaxed, friendly, supportive and always delivered with a great sense of humour.
