Textile Artist

Nunofelted scarf - Fine wool felted onto a base layer of silk chiffon and overlaid with silk, rose and eucalyptus fibres.

Artform: Textiles & Needlework

I am an obsessed textile artist focusing on fine felt creations. Inspired by the colours and textures I find in my garden and wild places, I blend fine wool, silk and other natural fibres into wearable art, sculpture and home decorations.

Felting itself deserves a rethink. It is one of the oldest methods of making fabric yet it is often dismissed as being potentially too bulky, too coarse or too kitsch. On the contrary, felting is a very flexible process allowing me to create the finest and sheerest scarf, a highly detailed human sculpture or a luxurious, deep, naturally curly fleece; all determined by design and the fibres chosen, and then matched with the appropriate technique.

I absolutely adore the joy, the loveliness and, most importantly, the sustainability of wool and other
natural fibres, and the endless possibilities of shape, form and texture.

Member of International Feltmakers Association. In addition to regular exhibits I sell my pieces online and provide classes in various aspects of felting at my farm studio.
