Artform: Painting
I have lived in the shadow of the Malvern Hills all my life.
I originally trained as a Primary School Teacher at St Mary’s College, Cheltenham, with art as my main subject.
When I retired from teaching in 2008 I knew I wanted to paint, and so my journey as an artist began. I experimented with various mediums and settled fairly quickly on oil paints.
I have walked the Hills since childhood and they became my primary inspiration. The hills are always changing from day to day and season to season. I am naturally attracted to the lighter moods of the hills, from the spring light in bluebell woods to high summer on the ridge line. From the drama of British Camp to the gentleness of the meadows and fields below.
In contrast to my oil paintings I also do a small number of pencil sketches.
My paintings also include scenes from the Greek and Welsh landscapes.
I have a studio in the garden where I work and display many of my paintings.
Visitors are welcome by appointment.
