Acrylic Painting titled Giving Peace

Artform: Digital art, Drawing, Mixed media, Painting

I am an artist and illustrator, based in the Worcestershire village of Belbroughton and am probably best known as a colourist and a lover of pattern.

My art is a personal response to the world around me and often reflects my desire to step into a more whimsical, safer place with the things I like, stories, people, houses, gardens, pattern and colour. My most recent work has been a series of paintings exploring memories of gardens and I have begun working on a larger scale. During my open studio event you will be able to see finished pieces and work in progress. I will also have paintings, prints and greeting cards for sale if you would like to take a piece of my art home with you.

There is often a narrative in my work which has meaning to me, but I am happy to think that when you come to view my work you will bring your own interpretation and may imagine alternative stories. I frequently experiment with using a mix of digital and hand rendered drawing and painting techniques and often move back and forth between processes.

Making art and being an artist has consistently been part of my life’s journey; it is part of who I am. I studied for a degree in multidisciplinary design at North Staffordshire Polytechnique and then went on to gain a master’s degree at The Royal College of Art. I have exhibited work across the UK and abroad and I worked in art education and community arts for over 30 years. I also ran a small design craft business for several years but found that I got more satisfaction from making one off piece’s rather than multiples and this is now generally my approach. I am at life stage now where things are coming full circle, and I am choosing to focus more and more on my own art practice. Alongside my original drawings and paintings, I also sell prints and greeting cards.

I am one of the founder members of Clent Village artists and am also a member of North Worcestershire Artist Collective.
