Woodland, wild places, sea, sky and wildflowers provide endless inspiration for my paintings, drawings and illustrations. When painting and drawing, I venture out to experience the landscape in all weathers and through the shifting seasons. I take these studies back to the studio to inspire oil paintings, watercolours and pen & ink work.

In my illustration work I often try to communicate stories and I love drawing and painting garden animals and birds in a warmly comical way for cards and framed high quality prints. I also create ‘artist’s books’ which have an unusual structure which are great fun to make. Alongside these I make sketchbooks and journals in various formats with a wide variety of paper. This grew out of my need for the right kind of sketchbook for my ‘plein air’ work and for note-taking while researching.

The common theme in my work is nature in all its fragile and fierce beauty. Our experience of the natural world and our inner nature resonate to allow us access to the magic and mystery of the natural spaces we share with all life around us.
