The paintings of Svalbard are inspired by my visits to the Arctic Island of Svalbard. Roughly the size of Ireland, less than 3000 people make their home on this polar frontier, with nearly 1000km of freezing ocean separating them from civilization.
For 14 years I have made the journey to Svalbard to see my eldest son and his wife, in the little town of Longyearbyen – where survival depends on supplies arriving by air and sea, and leaving the protection of town requires a rifle.
We had many adventures together, for which I am very grateful.
I will be showing paintings, Limited edition Giclee prints and cards as well as sketchbooks in my garden studio. As well as Svalbard paintngs I will also be showing some recent paintings inspired from local and Welsh landscapes.
