Lyn Tyler
Mixed media artist

Artform: Collage, Mixed media
Each of my artworks tell a story for you to interpret, I hope you enjoy finding your own meaning in each one. I use a variety of materials, in particular vintage & antiquarian ephemera, to create rich and intricate pieces. I am inspired by poetry, prose, conversations overheard and personal histories. Much of the work I create is influenced by my love of medieval, Renaissance & Indian art. The use of symbolism hidden within layers of imagery is an important element of each of the collages I make and I love to hear how different viewers respond with their own meaning.
Along with symbolism, the titles are intrinsic to each piece. The title is the begining of my process, once I am fixed on the title I source my materials, plan and create. This can take days, weeks or months and I often have a number of artworks at various stages of completion.
The mixed media artworks I have on show include framed pieces, assemblage and shadow boxes. I also have a unique set of collaged playing cards made especially for the exhibition.
Throughout the year I deliver monthly collage workshops in Cookley, Worcestershire; I also host an international collage collective to cement global relationships and encourage collaborative working. It is a great pleasure to have this opportunity to join Worcester Arts Collective to exhibit as part of Worcestershire Open Studios.
