You’re very welcome to visit me at Olive & Plum Academy for Worcestershire Open Studios. We’re based in a lovely riverside studio in Upper Arley, and it’s a relaxed, friendly space where you can take your time, look around and enjoy the work.
I’ll be demonstrating throughout the day, working in both watercolour and charcoal. My approach is always the same. Start with drawing, get the tones right, then move into colour and finally the more expressive marks.
I’ll be showing how I use a simple four colour palette to keep colour mixing clear and consistent, and how tone really does the heavy lifting in a painting. In charcoal, you’ll see how I build form using both pencil and eraser. In watercolour, it’s about balancing control with looseness so the work still feels alive.
These are steady, explained demonstrations rather than quick show pieces, so you can actually follow what’s going on. Do ask questions and stay as long as you like.
Whether you’re painting already or just curious, you’ll be very welcome.
