Artform: Jewellery & Silversmithing

I design and make silver jewellery, incorporating mixed metals using a variety of traditional silversmithing techniques. My work is influenced by Island landscapes and seascapes encountered during trips around the Scottish Isles and the West coast of Ireland along with the beautiful countryside here in Worcestershire. Nature is a constant source of inspiration in my work. I like to apply texture and pattern, manipulating form to mimic organic shapes, producing workable, wearable pieces of art. My brooches are amongst my largest jewellery items, where I abstract the authentic form to create a sculptural design, delivering an essence of nature. With all my designs I like to explore them fully by creating a collection that completely envelops the theme. Pieces range from small stud earrings through to larger statement pendants and brooches. Recently I have enjoyed developing a signature range that incorporates a mismatch and asymmetrical element, giving my work a contemporary contrast against the natural organic origin.

Over the bank holiday weekend I will be joining Sarah Walker (ArtShades) in her studio alongside Katie Pruden (Smoke fired Ceramics)
