Artform: Ceramics & Pottery

Welcome to Dev Ceramic Studio:
An Open Studio Experience
Step out of the everyday and into the creative sanctuary of Dev Ceramic Studio. For this year’s Art Week, I am thrilled to open my studio doors and invite you to experience the mindful, messy, and magical world of artisan ceramics.
Whether you are a lifelong collector of handmade pottery, a fellow artist, or simply curious about how a lump of earth becomes a beautiful vessel, this open studio event offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at my entire creative process.
What to Expect During Your Visit
My studio is a working environment, which means you will get to see the tools, the raw materials, and the works-in-progress that usually stay behind closed doors. During your visit, you can:
• Tour the workspace: See where the clay is prepped, thrown, trimmed, and fired.
• Handle the raw materials: Feel the different textures of the clays I use, from smooth porcelains to gritty, grogged stonewares.
• Learn about the firing process: Get a close-up look at the kiln and learn how extreme heat transforms delicate, dried clay into durable stone and turns powdery glazes into vibrant glass.
• Ask questions: I will be on hand all week to chat about my inspiration, my techniques, and the inevitable trial-and-error that comes with ceramic art.
Live Studio Demonstrations
To bring the process to life, I will be running live demonstrations throughout Art Week. Drop in to watch the clay take shape!
• The Potter’s Wheel: Watch the hypnotic process of wheel-throwing. I will be demonstrating how to center the clay, pull up the walls, and shape functional pieces like [mugs / bowls / vases].
• Hand-Building Techniques: For pieces that require a more organic or sculptural touch, I will demonstrate traditional hand-building methods, such as slab-building and coiling.
• Surface Decoration & Glazing: See how pieces are finished before their final firing. I will showcase my techniques for carving, slip-trailing, and applying glazes to achieve my signature [colors / textures / finishes].
The Gallery & Shop
Alongside the working studio, I have set up a gallery space featuring my latest collection of finished ceramics. You will find a wide range of pieces, from [functional everyday tableware to unique sculptural centerpieces].
All work on display will be available for purchase, giving you the perfect opportunity to take home a piece of functional art or find a unique, handcrafted gift.
