This year I have created a new collection of paintings celebrating the importance of countryside and wildlife. I have embraced themes of the ‘Arts and Crafts ‘movement by using imitation gold leaf to add richness and looking deeper at nature and its value to our lives and how to celebrate and protect our world.
My animals are hiding within woods, fields or leaves. They are full of personality and a gentle reminder to reconnect to the countryside. The relationship we have with the landscape, walking, sitting with friends, heals us and brings us a sense of peace. The themes of balance and harmony are revisited in these paintings.
The paintings are created using rich, lush acrylics and are layered over the sealed gold leaf. The process of applying, sealing and varnishing takes many hours but provides a unique background to feature the wildlife and foliage.
Each painting will be completed in a hand painted wooden frame which matches the colours exactly .I will also be offering prints of some of my paintings, framed and unframed.
I am also showing new, moody, atmospheric landscapes. Urban Worcester, Malvern and further afield are places which have inspired me and hold memories. Each painting shows different seasons, weather and the emotion of the landscape and invites you to connect deeper to the environment shown.
Each painting is created in acrylics, encased in a hand painted wooden frame and signed by the artist.
I will have a few ceramic sculptures dotted about the garden and studio which will be on sale and enrich the theme of the paintings in another art form.
I am always happy to chat about my process of making and to encourage others to create.
