I am a retired art educator of 40 years. I left the rhythm of the classroom for a quieter journey to rediscover a more personal, creative path…an ongoing challenge.
Drawing remains important to my practice and reminds me that seeing is very different to looking.
I regularly draw out in the landscape and with a life drawing group.
The development of my observations usually takes place in the studio where I experiment with colour relationships to produce semi-abstract paintings and drawings in oil, cold wax and a variety of graphic media. Knowing when to stop and avoid over working detail are constant sources of frustration!
My studio sits in an acre of garden in which you are welcome to wander and draw. There are plenty of places to rest and look.
During the “Open Studios” event my work will be exhibited and you will be able to discuss and see my working processes.
